What is a CAMPT-Certified physiotherapist?

A CAMPT-Certified physiotherapist, also known as an FCAMPT physiotherapist, is a physiotherapist who has completed extensive post-graduate education in orthopaedics and has achieved internationally recognized qualifications in hands-on manipulative therapy.

FCAMPT stands for Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy.

These physiotherapists have advanced training in:

• Assessment and treatment of spine and extremity conditions

• Hands-on orthopaedic manual therapy

• Clinical reasoning for complex pain and movement disorders

• Integrating research into treatment decisions

• Safe and effective use of manipulative therapy where appropriate

This advanced education is built on top of the university training already required to become a licensed physiotherapist in Canada.

Why FCAMPT training matters

FCAMPT training helps physiotherapists:

  • Identify, understand, and treat a broad range of injuries and conditions

  • Use hands-on assessment and treatment techniques to improve accuracy and outcomes

  • Apply research-guided treatment approaches more consistently

  • Consider not only pain, but also how an injury or condition affects function, work, family life, activity, sleep, and long-term recovery
